About rubber
1.Rubber Production:
Rubber can be two types: either nature rubber or synthetic rubber.
a. Nature Rubber : A groove is cut in the bark to collect the
latex. After the impurity are removed, the
latex is solidified fumigated and dry..etc.
b. Synthetic rubber : Synthetic rubber is made from several
by-product of the chemical industry. It
can be synthesized to different
requirements. The most common types
are : SBR NBREPDMBR
IIRCRQ FKM..etc. Because
sytheticization processes differ the
above can be further divided into
different formula, by manipulating the
formula to suit thousands of different
applications.
2.Rubber Material:
Rubber compounds undergo three procedures:
a. Mastication : The rubber is cut thermoplastic, and mixed to
a uniform consistency. Adding ingredients
chemical mixture processing and additives to
help mix the ingredients in mixture
processing. This is ensuring to further
improve the rubber malleability, uniform
chemical distribution, and preventing friction
heat and scorching during manufacturing.
b. Compounding and mixing : The finished product will be
directly effected by the
success of this process.
Uneven chemical distribution
will result in incomplete
molecular configuration,
yielding inferior rubber.
c. Rolling on : The rubber is then processed through a roll
mill in order to get rid of air and press the
rubber into the desired thickness to facilitate
the forming process.
3.Rubber formation:
The rubber molecular structure is unsaturated polymer. Forming
rubber requires proper chemical additive and manufacturing
factors such as time, temperature, and pressure...... etc. This will
destroy unsaturated bonding and rebuild it into saturated bond. A
vacuum is used to force the air out of the material. This imparts
to fully utilize the proper characteristics to the material. If there
are any defects in this process such as improper formula,
inadequate forming times, incorrect temperatures these which
cause the rubber to lose additives and its proper characteristics
and lose additives. this will deform deteriorate the rubber worsen
the defects.
4.Rubber deterioration:
Depending on its environment the rubber product will crack or
petrify and lose its original properties. This is called aging. There
are two factors causing of aging.
a. External factors : oxygen, oxidants, ozone, heat, light,
radiation, and mechanical fatigue,
and defective molding process.
b. Internal factors : The type of rubber, the forming process,
the degree of molecular bonding the
additive types and the factors involved
in manufacturing.
1. To prevent rubber aging focus on rubber type selection, formula
design and quality control, all of which increases the life of the
rubber products and maximizes its properties.
5.The basic rubber properties of rubber products:
a. When rubber products are formed they go through immense
pressure. The coherence of elastomer is not able to get rid of.
When the molds are removed it can create varying degree of
unstable shrinkage. The rate of shrinkage will depend on type
of rubber. It takes time to stabilize the shape. Before the
products are designed, great attention should be paid to both
the formula and mold; otherwise you run the risk of deviating
from the dimension and lower the product quality.
b. Rubber is the type of thermo-set. Rubber due to the different
use material vulcanization. The curing temperature used to
depend on the weather and humidity. The rubber
manufacturing conditions need to be adjusted in
coordination with the production environment. If not, it
will effect the products.
6.To distinguish two-sides tape for rubber:
Regular two-sided tape for industrial use can be to recognized as
two types, Acrylic and rubber. From these main types, we can
further develop two types, one with base material. One without a
base material. (The base material is cotton material to increase the
quantity and strength of the tape. If these is no base material: the
pure rubber will be transparent.) Because the main material is CR
used in rubber adhesive, which is very easy to turn yellowish
because reaction with the vulcanizing material. So for beige
colored rubber products it is preferable to use tape that has base
material (in the same type of two-sided tape both tapes that has
base material either with or without base material which
subdivided the tape by its thickness.)
